Artist Statement

Jean-Paul Raymond is a Master Glazier, capable to insufflate into  glass , his willingness  as an artist by means of  of a pipe  !
Through the firm blow, patient, mastered and inspired from  this very creative artist , can be produced articles of scarce beauty , that are engraved, decorated…

Well, to dress up that light  , the artists lights all its inner lights, the flame of a brilliant talent with a thousand of sides. Imagination, word dancing, prosaic or wandering dance of prosaic or wandering words ; free or reserved poetry ; in search for space, in search for an instant that you trap, you keep, you change under a tint or a graphism ; everything refers to the qualities which decorate Jean-Paul Raymond’s works. Each piece is unique, it is depository of a stolen instant perpetuated by the conjuror (magician) into transparency.

Biography

Born in 1948 in Brive, Jean-Paul Raymond a word juggler and born poet attended a sound education in literature. As a sportsman, he became a skiing instructor in high mountains. As a polyglot, he got a bachelor’s degree in German.
He  had a gift for everything, he tried to transpose into matter or language his high artistic turn of mind. Glass and its magic, its transparency either limpid or deceptive, its fragility or its strength, this ancient and modern material, all these attract the creation haunted artist. In 1976, he met an artist glassblower walter Couffinien and he spent one year in his workshop. The following year, he opened his own workshop wherein he would improve his techniques of for three years and he would invent new blow – piping.

Since 1982, Jean-Paul Raymond arranges exhibitions not only in France : Paris, Cannes, Biot, Rouen etc, but in Switzerland and Germany too. We find his works at the Decorative Arts Museum (Musée des Arts Décoratifs ) in Paris, at the Fine Arts Museum (Musée des Beaux Arts) in Rouen, At Franceman Museum in Germany and  at Many private collection – makers.
